Iverna Gardens Montessori
Our objectives are to:
Engender confidence, compassion, happiness, calmness, purpose, freedom and independence; excitement about life; kindness and the ability to communicate.
Encourage friendship and consideration.
Awaken children’s interest in all subjects and encourage in them a love of learning, giving them an understanding of the world and respect for all they find in it.
Support parents by helping them to understand the developmental stages of their child, working together through identifying and implementing behaviour strategies.
Gardens Montessori is family run and has been providing nursery education in Kensington for nearly 30 years. Our two schools, Iverna Gardens and Victoria Road, are both rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
When I first I sent my daughter to nursery, 35 years ago, I must admit I was terrified. Would she be happy? Were the staff taking care of her? It was a leap of faith, and I wanted to be sure I was doing the right thing for my child.
Nearly four decades of teaching experience later, I run a nursery school of my own – two in fact – but those early memories have stayed with me. I am acutely aware of what it means to entrust any nursery with your son or daughter. In these pages, I hope to set out the ways in which we can nurture and develop your child, while giving you the confidence you need to know that they are being well cared-for.
To face the future, the children of today must learn to be imaginative, communicative and creative thinkers. They need to have embedded in them curiosity, determination and the understanding that learning is not a dry, sterile activity but one full of opportunity and fulfilment.
They must be secure in their self-esteem, able to socialize, caring of those around them and the world in which they live, and, above all, imbued with the feeling that they can achieve anything to which they set their minds.
My job is a delight: fun, rewarding and a huge privilege, and I look forward to welcoming you and your children to one of our nursery schools in the heart of Kensington.
